Career and Academic Interests
Career: Switching from a career in healthcare counseling and medical research to geography and natural resources management.  Past president of the Virginia Creeper Trail Club, a nonprofit agency.  Founding member of the Holston Rivers chapter of Virginia Master Naturalists, a volunteer-training and service organization.

Academic Interests: Landscape ecology, rural land use planning and policy, conservation easements, biogeography, GIS decision-support systems, economic impact of tourism on rural economies.

 

Research or Teaching Activities
Research Activities: Conducted A Survey of Virginia's Adult Long Term Care Facilities' Willingness to Receive Young Adults with Complex Medical Needs for Children's Hospital, Richmond.  I also worked as part of a nursing research team at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to study the self-management skills of teens with spina bifida and their families.
